How to design the house on your own? Tips and tricks.

Story in By Magdalena Szydło, Posted August 9, 2022

Balanced interior – the main source of the coziness of the house. The convenience inside depends on how rational the space in the house is used, therefore, interior design is the first thing to think through. But this process as well as designing is often time and energy consuming, stressful, and expensive. Some people are afraid of this, especially without designer services. But some of them are brave and put all the effort to implement everything on their own. This article will break the stereotypes about the fact, that renovation and design are impossible to produce on a high level using just own skills. We will provide you with some advice, strategy, and understanding of how to do it. Starting the design we usually don’t know where we should start: go to IKEA or other furniture shops popular in your country and start to buy some design elements, construction materials, or furniture, or to find inspirational pictures first? Let’s divide the whole process step by step.Grey Tiles, Bathroom 3D Design Step 1. Good design is never achieved without an idea

Stop for a moment and ask several questions: What would you like to feel while being inside the house? If coming back after a hard day you would like to rest – there is one color spectrum, if you work at home, or you spend the most time there -there will be totally different color spectrum. Think about the channels of inspiration: maybe nature, music, art, or idols? This all may totally influence the overall decoration.

Step 2. Preparation of room layout

Any design idea may be faced with the inability to match it to the existing dimensions. Therefore, the exact measurement of the premises is the basis of the future project. Here you need a pencil and paper, or a computer. You may use planners like HomeByMe, Homestyler, SmartDraw. All you need to do is to make all needed measurements and draw a plan for the rooms. First, you need to set the scale on paper. Next, draw the axis of the house and the walls. It is necessary to accurately identify all measurements to avoid problems during furniture placement. Then you must sign each room and mark the area in square meters. This step is important as the room layout will show you all the spaces, which makes the process of furniture easier. What is more, you will have a clear vision of where the windows, doors, corners, arches, and internal partitions are situated and of course, the best placement for furniture will be visible.White Shelves, Bedroom InteriorStep 3. Time for searching for similar interiors

When you have the room layout ready, you may see the placement of the rooms. Use the internet sources like Pinterest, our Viscato portfolio, interiordesign.net, or magazines, such as “House Beautiful”, “Dwell”, “Country Living” to look for designs that may be comparable. Moreover, you may use Photoshop to create a collage, or just glue and pictures to gather all the design items on the paper. This step will help you not forget anything because during renovation and design we have plenty of information, so it is very easy to miss something. When you come to the store, you will compare furniture and materials with an example you made and will not buy something that does not fit together at all. This will be your starting point. Adequacy of dimensions of furniture and space is something important to pay attention to. For instance, if the room is small, you should avoid bulky furniture and vice versa, with low ceilings, lockers should be chosen from floor to ceiling to make the room taller.

Step 4. Interior style choice

We would like to recommend you look through the main design types and learn about them better. For example, the classical type is famous for using expensive, antique items, old books, royal velvet, and old tree furniture. There are such styles as minimalism, modern, high-tech, Scandinavian, and others, among which you will definitely determine yours. Do not invent complex architectural elements. Aspire to simplicity but balance.Step 5. Determining color scheme

Colors may create a special mood inside us, relax or tire. We don’t want to point out which colors you should use – this is up to you, but the best option is to have 4-5 favorite colors. The first is going to be the main color of the walls, the second color for big objects like curtains, and furniture, fourth and fifth colors will be dedicated to small objects. The most universal color schemes contain neutral or pastel colors, and the brightest and favorite color is used for larger parts.

Step 6. Furniture placement

We recommend you to fulfill the interior gradually. Why? Because in the half-ready room, it will be easy to imagine the missing piece of furniture and asses it. In order to evaluate a particular arrangement of furniture, it is convenient to use the room layout we talked about earlier. Be sure the furniture doesn’t interfere with movement around the room. One more piece of advice – do not forget about the room zoning. Zoning is a necessary part of any room: in the kitchen, it is an area for dining, and in the living room there is a soft corner with a sofa with TV set. It makes the room functional and helps to prevent irrational use of space.Minimalistic Bedroom, 3D Interior We hope we ensured you that everything is possible without even having any special skills and this article was useful for you. The last things we would like to propose – be considerable to every little thing and do not run after trends and opinions of others. Your design should reflect exactly your condition and mood, as well as any art. Self-dependent creation of a design project has one strong advantage – no one will tell you exactly what to do and will not bring down the wave of creativity while performing a design of a dream.
